This module is part of the Asian Institute of Management's Postgraduate Certificate in Data Privacy and Protection Operational Excellence program. 

This Data Protection Officer Course will provide an overview of the "WHAT" of the Data Privacy Act Philippines, while focusing on operationalising a privacy management program. It will tackle the "HOW" of implementing a  data privacy management program and provide the "WHY" of the general data privacy principles in the Philippines in accordance with DPA regulation. It is a foundational Data Protection Officer (DPO) program delivered in a workshop format with actual activities and case scenarios. This Data Protection Officer course will provide a hands-on approach to privacy and data protection.

The program is for individuals who have minimal or no exposure in Data Privacy and Protection. It is also for professionals in the field of data privacy and protection, information security and GRC who want to learn more about Data Protection and get their DPO Certification in the Philippines. 

The data protection officer program is also for business leaders and individuals in cross-functional teams who will bring their organization to the orbit of Industry 4.0 digital ecosystem maximising the utility of personal data and technology. Edwin is the Head of the Data Protection-as-a-Service unit. As an international trainer and consultant, he provides privacy and data protection training, consulting and advisories to various organisations which include retail and hospitality, publishing, education, telecommunications and others. He has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry in various management roles from enterprise solutions, marketing and product management.

Atty. Jeremy O. Panganiban has been a lawyer in the Philippines since the year 2000. He is a legal researcher and opinion writer who once wrote for the Pacific Daily News Guam, Bayanihan Issue. His legal practice is primarily focused on real estate, corporate, and inheritance/tax law after resting on his laurels in litigation. He is a Fellow of Information Privacy, a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe, and a Certified Information Privacy Manager. His interest in data privacy led him to become part of the Data Protection Excellence Network Trusted Advisors. He has provided data privacy consulting services to various companies over the years.


 



Ricardo Lacson
DPEX Network Trusted Advisor

Before his retirement in 2020, Mr Ricardo Lacson, Jr was the Data Protection Officer for Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (AEV). He was also responsible for the Group's Information Security Management Systems (ISO 27701), Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), and Compliance Risk Management. Mr Lacson held several senior management positions during his professional career. He is a certified Information Security Manager (ISACA), certified Data Protection Officer (TUV Rheinland), certified Risk Manager (PARIMA), and certified ISO 27001 Lead Implementer (BSI).

MODULE 2: Data Privacy Management
Implementing a Data Privacy Management Program allows organisations to demonstrate accountability and compliance with the Data Privacy Act.



COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT

Competency assessment is administered immediately at the end of the 5 half day course. Format is pass or fail. Assessment is time bound.

The "Data Protection Officer Course - Hands-on" certificate of completion is awarded by Asian Institute of Management and Straits Interactive.
