Your field of responsibility
Chance to lead the APAC Data Security & Confidentiality stream within the APAC Chief Data Officer (CDO) team, and be responsible for the adoption and monitoring of data confidentiality in the division. In this challenging position, you will play a central role in orchestrating the adoption and monitoring of data confidentiality for our Private Banking and Lending businesses across multiple jurisdictions in the region.
You are expected to actively engage with leadership teams across frontline businesses, support functions and global governance teams to deliver on projects, thereby establishing a balanced “Business as Usual” operating model for the APAC division.
Key responsibilities
• Identify data assets to be protected and ensure that they are covered by effective protection goals with assigned owners. This covers initial identification and periodic assessment of data types to protect in collaboration with businesses’ first line of defense, data owners and the divisional data protection officer (DPO); working with technology functions (chief information security officer and IT Enterprise & Security Services) to guide the implementation of effective data leakage protection rules and ensure periodic monitoring of the controls’ performance. In addition, you strive to drive the analysis of issues when identified and pro-actively recommend improvement measures.
• Design, implement and support data risk governance for the division: setting up the logistics, facilitating related working groups, and steering senior management via activities such as proposing agenda, preparing materials, reporting related metrics and providing transparency on issues resolution and projects’ progress.
• Lead the divisional deployment of global initiatives related to data protection as well as supporting implementation of remediation projects on data security
• Review policies and draft new supplements as the need arises with the objective to improve adoption of regulatory requirements and standard methodologies
• Support the periodic risk and control self-assessment reviews with divisional and global partners involving data security and data protection.

The APAC Technology and Change organization is responsible for the engineering and support of technology solutions, implementation of change programs, and the associated change, design and data governance for the APAC Division. The organization includes APAC WM Core Technology, APAC WM Client Technology, APAC Products IT, APAC Markets IT and APAC Global Markets IT.
Your skills and experience
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- At least 10 years with global financial institutions or in related consulting assignments with a track record in effective management of data risk, data security or data confidentiality, preferably in the wealth management industry.
- Demonstrable experience and leadership across project management, data security / or data leakage prevention applied to safeguarding data assets
- Proficient in a robust risk management and controls culture aimed at keeping the bank safe – including the ability to identify and lead deployment of effective controls and remediation of associated gaps.
- Ability to challenge partners and influence outcomes on data risk management practices in the context of large and complex organizations.
- Element of thought leadership in terms of steering a multi-years roadmap on data security and confidentiality as well as previous experience in growing and leading people. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Be proficient in crucial data analytics, using end users solutions such as Excel, Tableau etc.
- Result oriented, dedicated, hardworking who can work on own initiative and can deliver on time with a high level of integrity and flexibility, sense of urgency, attention to detail and quality standards
