A confluence of technology, geopolitics, and demographic pressure is triggering the largest wave of industrial capital expenditure the world has seen in a generation. Asia is at its centre. The word "supercycle" is rarely used with precision. Economists employ it to describe periods when commodity prices, investment flows, and capital-formation rates all move together, in the same direction, for a decade or more -- driven not by a single trigger but by an irreversible structural shift in how the world organises production. The last one, centred on China's entry into the global economy, ran roughly from 1999 to 2014. A new one is now beginning, and once again Asia is its engine room.
