Anthropic Wants A Global Pause On AI Development

In recent years, we've seen considerable advancements in the artificial intelligence (AI) space. From generative AI to autonomous agents, major tech companies are continuing to push for more developments. In the midst of all this, Anthropic has suggested that it's time for the world to hit the pause button, as advanced AI may eventually outpace human oversight. The San Francisco-based company recently posted a lengthy report on its website detailing the progress of AI systems, including its own Claude models. In this report, the firm claimed that AI is dramatically speeding up the development of AI itself. The report went on to assert that AI systems could eventually be capable of "full recursive self-improvement".
