Samsung Electronics, the South Korean conglomerate and the world's largest memory chip maker by market share, projected a first-quarter operating profit of 57.2 trillion won, equivalent to approximately $37.9 billion, representing an eightfold increase from the same period a year ago. The figure shattered analyst expectations and set a new quarterly record for the company.
