DICT: eGov app downtime not due to security issue; now back online

The Philippine government's flagship one-stop shop platform eGov PH app has returned to full operations following a temporary downtime due to a surge in user activity, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). In a statement on Friday, DICT Undersecretary for e-Government David Almirol Jr. said the eGov app disruption "was not due to any security incident" but was triggered by an overwhelming number of simultaneous transactions on the platform, adding that the incident should not be a cause for concern. He clarified that there was no hacking or data breach involved. "Our servers were overwhelmed due to the surge in eGov usage, especially following the launch of new features," Almirol said.
