Figma AI controversy triggers corporate data warnings

A DATA protection company based in Singapore warned organiztaions that confidential business information may already be training external artificial intelligence systems, following global controversy over design platform Figma and a class-action lawsuit filed in the United States. The advisory comes after Figma drew criticism in 2024 when designers found that its Make Design feature, an AI tool generating interface layouts, produced screens that resembled Apple's iOS Weather app. The discovery raised questions about whether Figma's AI capabilities had been developed using user-generated content without clear consent. Figma disabled the tool and rejected claims that customer files were used for training, but acknowledged it had not adequately reviewed its design components before launch.
