A hacker group named DeathNote Hackers infiltrated the website of the Senate of the Philippines and extracted employee usernames and logs, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Wednesday. Prior to this, cybersecurity group Deep Web Konek reported on Tuesday evening that DeathNote Hackers breached the Senate's information technology system. DICT Assistant Secretary Renato Paraiso, in an interview with the Inquirer, said the hacking incident was already resolved but the government agency is working with the Senate to beef up the latter's cybersecurity measure. "It is not alarming," Paraiso assured. The same hacker group, Paraiso noted, was also behind the data breach victimizing the Bureau of Customs earlier this year.
