A new AI tool that identifies genetic risk factors for stroke could open the door to more personalised prevention and treatment. Researchers have developed an AI model that analyses a person's DNA to catch genetic risk factors for stroke -- the second leading cause of death worldwide. A team at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) has identified specific genes that show a higher predisposition to ischaemic stroke -- the most common type of stroke, in which a blood clot blocks blood flow to the brain. "When someone has a stroke, particularly at a young age, they often want to know whether other family members are also at risk," said Kairui Guo, the study's corresponding author.
