Malaysian online payment platform toyyibPay investigating data breach allegation

PETALING JAYA: Digital payment platform toyyibPay says it is currently investigating a data breach allegation after a hacker posted a sample of a database for sale online, which are claimed to contain files belonging to the company. "On this matter, we are currently conducting a detailed investigation to verify the allegations," the company said when contacted by LifestyleTech. It added that any further information will be shared after the investigations are complete. "ToyyibPay will immediately report the matter to authorities if the allegations were found to be true," the company said. A hacker on an online data leak forum offered an alleged toyyibPay database for sale, asking for 0.7 in bitcoin (around RM184,000) as payment, in a post on Aug 22 with priority given to toyyibPay's owner for "exclusivity".
