Unesco unveils new AI roadmap for classrooms

THE United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) announced on Friday a roadmap for teachers and students in using artificial intelligence (AI) aimed at charting "a safer digital path for all," a day after the agency held an online meeting with education ministers on the subject. The roadmap, which resulted from the ministers' exchanges of policy approaches and plans, comes as less than 10 percent of educational institutions follow formal guidance on using AI tools, such as the chatbot software ChatGPT, the Unesco said. Details of the roadmap are not immediately known. Generative AI used for education can create data and content based on existing algorithms, but also make factual errors.
