Yahoo shuts down search in Thailand

Yahoo has ceased its search operations in Thailand, leaving users unable to access the platform without a workaround. Attempts to use Yahoo Search from Thai IP addresses now result in an announcement or a redirect to sg.search.yahoo.com, which operates under Singapore law. The move effectively geoblocks Thai users, signalling a shift in Yahoo's regional strategy. The decision comes as Google continues to dominate the global search market, including Thailand, where Yahoo's share has long been negligible. Many tech analysts say maintaining search operations in such markets has become economically unjustifiable, especially with Google's overwhelming presence and Yahoo's reliance on Bing for backend support.
