Ombudsman pursuing raps in investigators' identity leak

MANILA, Philippines -- The Office of the Ombudsman on Sunday condemned the unauthorized leak of its investigators' identities online, adding that it is now working with the authorities to identify those behind the leak to pursue legal action. In a statement, the Ombudsman committed to pursue maximum legal penalties under the Data Privacy Act and the Cybercrime Prevention Act against the individuals once they have been identified. "The Office of the Ombudsman strongly condemns the malicious online disclosure of our investigators' identities," the Ombudsman said. "This unauthorized leak is a blatant attempt to intimidate public servants and directly jeopardizes their personal safety," it added.
