PH bats for tighter Asean coordination vs threats

THE Philippines on Tuesday said no member state of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) should face transnational crimes alone as Manila sought improved coordination to combat security threats in the region. The Philippines, this year's chairman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), will lead regional efforts to strengthen cooperation against transnational crime. Manila is hosting the 20th Asean Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC) and its Related Meetings from Oct. 19 to 21, attended by the region's interior and security ministers. "No criminal network should be allowed to exploit the gaps between our jurisdictions," said Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla at the start of the AMMTC meetings.
