99 Data Breaches: Do you value privacy on your mobile devices /Application Security Vulnerability

How would you feel when your friend suddenly out of nowhere taps on your shoulder when you’re in a mall? And wouldn’t it be surprising if he said that he got notified of your location because of a mobile App?

A bit uneasy, right?  Well, it’s the same concern many of us have due to the invasion of Privacy. 

And it all happened due to the download of an app.

The HP Mobile Application Security Vulnerability Report which examined 2000 mobile custom business apps from more than 600 companies revealed the following: We ignorantly grant permission for many apps to access our data and perform functions that are unnecessary for the purpose of the app’s functionality. 

One important tip – READ THE PRIVACY POLICY in the App before downloading it.  In addition, best practices are the following: 

1. Be aware of intrusive mobile apps that invade privacy.
2. Avoid or minimize downloading free mobile apps.
3. Read the Privacy policy before downloading the app.
4. Ensure compliance with the organisation’s BYOD policy.
